Am I supposed to take rubber bands of my braces when I eat??

Question: I just got the two rubber bands put on my braces today. They didn't tell me anything about them... Am I supposed to take them off when I eat? I can't hardly open my mouth with them on, but that is just because I am afraid they will snap. Am I supposed to switch them out everyday or just when they break?
Answers: I had to wear rubber bands when I had braces as well. They told me to only take them out when I eat and brush my teeth. They also told me to wear one set(2) during the day and change into a new set(2) during the night. If you open your mouth too wide they might pop off.
you don't nesessarily need to take the bands out when you eat, but you should if it's uncomfotable to eat. Yes, you should change them everyday, the bacteria that bulds up is unhealthy.
Both mykids had braces and they both took them off when they ate. 1 they were more comfortable and 2 they didn't need to worry about them coming off and being swallowed.
Yes, if they interfere with normal chewing you should take them out. so that you don't over stretch them and cause them to snap.
I know exactly how you feel! When I first got rubber bands put in my braces I was terrified to open my mouth in fear that they would snap, but don't worry, you'll eventually get used to them and be able to open your mouth as you normally do even if you have rubber bands in. Once you get used to them, you can probably eat some foods with them, but a lot of foods I've found to be annoying to eat with rubber bands, so I usually don't. It's all up to you. And YES, change them every day.
My ortho told me to take them off to eat and brush my teeth only. And not to put the same ones back on because they stretch out when you wear them.
And they will snap if stretched too much...I snapped one eating a small piece of candy.
Yes, take them out for eating and brushing, and when done put new ones in. Just make sure you remember how/which teeth they go on before you take them out as it can be a bit confusing. Even though they look tiny, they don't snap that easily. Oh yeah, carry an extra bag of rubber bands with you since you won't always be home when changing them (your ortho should have given you at least a couple of baggies).
Good luck!
yes take them out when you eat and put new ones on after
my friend ate a cheese burger when she had one band from the left incisor to the bottom tooth on the right... what a sight!
