I got my braces off... nd it hurts when i brush my teeth.....??

Question: i got my braces off yesterday (happy like hell ofcourse)
my teeth looks great and i love it!!!!

but my teeth are somewhat soar... it hurts when i brush them.... also my gum hurts....

i won't see my orthodontist till saturday to get my retainer.... but i jus wanna make sure it's normal till then!!
Answers: That is very normal, just ry to brush lightly, and use a soft bristle brush. Your gums are probably swollen a little bit from getting them taken off. The retainers shouldn't hurt, it is just uncomfortable. If they hurt let your orthodontist know right away so they can be adjusted. You can also use a light salt water solution that is lukewarm to help with the swelling.
Try going with the softest bristle brush you can find, and do not brush to hard.
It is! Oh, and when you get your retainers, they're going to hurt to, especially when you wake up from sleeping with them on.
Yeah, that's normal.
Happens to everyone.
I even had steak the first night after I got them off.
Yes, your teeth being sore is completely normal. Just take an advil and the pain will go away.
That's normal. They will hurt for a few days.
It's normal. They will stop hurting in a few days.
its Normal! Dont worry! Take a pain killer if it hurts to bad to handle.
That happened to me when I got my bottom brace off. Its just feels weird after all that pressure the braces put on your teeth and now ther eoff yeah its going to hurt. Keep crushing them and in no time they will be ok! x
Try Pronamel tooth paste, it is fantastic for building up the enamel on your teeth.
Absolutely Normal!
I had exactly the same and the orthadontist said it is just because your teeth have to adjust to not being permanently under pressure, don't worry!
It most likely will go away......and if it dont, sue the dentist
Yes, it is normal, when I got my braces off, my teeth and gums were sore and sensitive. I used a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and flossed at least twice a day to toughen my teeth back up.
Your teeth are just adjusting to not having braces. They could be sensitive to temperature exposure without the braces, or they could be extra sensitive because when you remove the braces, the cement has the possibility of stripping a small part of your tooth enamel, making your teeth sensitive.

Keep up your good hygeine and mention your pain to the dentist when you return.
try using a toothpaste that protects gums, or the one sensitive that should help you a little bit meanwhile you wait
ahhh!!!

i am getting my braces off in a week!! whoo hoo!!

but is it painful =(

oh no!!

?????
You are very used to it, years of braces will become very in to you, it will stop hurting in 3 or 4 days. To make it fell unsoar, drink soup and do chew gum until the pain is gone. Dont brush to hard, take more time, SLOWLY and CAREFUL!
its normal i guess....never had braces
Happy for ya! It's a GRAND day when the metal is removed!

Same thing happened when I had mine removed....lucky me I had full caps that were cemented on...they used a mallet to remove mine, and I almost lost 2 teeth that way....that was YEARS ago tho.

That's normal. try using a toothpaste made for sensitve mouths.
Also aspirn or some type of pain killer will help.
When ya eat try easy soft foods too, like eggs and mashed taters.....or pasta will help too.

Other then that ya might just have to stick it out til yer appt.

Good Luck!
LOL Stephiie I don't think you really meant for her to 'crush' them....did you? LOL funny tho.
it is very normal for your teeth to adjust to the shock of taking the metals off. it will last for a couple of days or weeks but eventually you will be ok.
Yes...I had the same thing. Your teeth and gums are going to be sensitive for a few days. Mine were sore for about 3 days after. Just be careful brushing your teeth for the first few days, you may want to switch to a extra soft bristeled toothbrush for the time being (like a kids toothbrush). It helps.
