Earlier today, i ate a baguette (it was very hard!). I heard and felt a crack on the right side of my mouth, i also tasted blood. Now whenever i bite my teeth together or eat something, it hurts. I looked in the mirror and my braces look fine, no cracks, wire is fitted in nicely, brackets are in place... My orthodentist is 30 mins away from my house, and i dont want to waste time. My next dentist apointment is on the 30th janruary. So how can i tell if its broken?

You probably should go back to the orthadontist so you can get it fixed. Unless, you want to go starving until the 30th.
Sounded like you broke a bracket off. No worries, call ur ortho and get an appt so they can cement that thing back on!!
well i got my braces tightened this morning and the colour had come off one of them that did not hurt but it did turn sharp you're teeth are probably just moving and the crack could have been anything. And remember the orthodontists job is to make sure your teeth are alright so don't worry your not wasting his/her time.

I would guess by the sound of this that you either had the crack be the baquette if it was hard or the brace cut into the gums a little when you bit the baquette. Try to avoid hard foods , soften them if possible in the microwave first.
The blood taste and pain though should be discussed with the orthodontist's office. I would give them a call and see what they or the orthodontist has to say regarding this.
