Why,when I burn my fingertips then touch my earlobes , dont I get burned??
Question: If you directly touch your earlobes after burning your fingertips ,the burn feels like it travels away from your fingers ,and you dont get burned , but why?
Answers: Why,when I burn my fingertips then touch my earlobes , dont I get burned?
Because the heat has not gone deep into your fingers, as it would if your fingers were roasted for a long time.......heat would go into your fingers in three different ways......radiation (direct burn) convection (hot air ) and conduction (heat passing through an object from a neighbouring object...like hot coals..etc !)
Heat takes time to transfer or travel....and the greatest amount of heat , that you could possibly bear on your fingers, before your automatic reflex response , would automatically pull your fingers away , from the heat source....would not be sufficient ....to channel that heat into your deeper tissues, muscles or bones .......in your fingers .....and so the heat , just being on the outer surface of your body (your skin) , would be lost very , very quickly.....as the surrounding air...would be a lot cooler than the heat of the finger and cool it down.....very quickly .....almost like putting your fingers into cold water !
Therefore by the time your fingers have reached your ears, they will have cooled down....and as they are cool , and not hot enough to burn you....they cannot burn you !
Another protective thing about your body, is that the surface of your skin is moist....which means that before your skin actually gets burnt....the heat has to burn off or dry off the moisture.....this moisture does not necessarily need heat to burn it off....as fridge or freezer burn....will take away this moisture....and consequently burn your skin as well ! This often happens with frozen meat.....were the moisture is dried off, and leaves a burn or dry spot on the muscle of the meat ! This is known in the Meat Trade as Fridge Burn !
I once saw a young boy , get his tongue stuck to a Freezer in a shop.....the moisture on his tongue had dried off and and the release of the moisture , made his tongue form a bond with the inside of the freezer cabinet ! We had to release him by using warmed up spoons to prise his tongue off, by melting the ice !!
Great Question!
Well, this is sort of liuke how when you were little a bandaid made you feel all better. If you can believe, you can achieve!
You're just trying to get stupid SOBs to burn their fingers and try this. Let me tell you my finger STILL friggin hurts!
Probably because you're not possessed.
dont know/ dont care/ dont do that /its stupid/2 points
you have raised your hand, so blood flows down and away.
I have never heard that...I burn myself often...maybe next time I'll try that=)
your earlobes don't feel heat. so when you touch your earlobes the heat gets transferred to them but because they don't feel heat you don't feel it.
The heat that burnt your finger tips has been absorbed.
The best way to burn your earlobes is to put them directly onto the source of the heat, try it, it works!
Hope this helps??????
d u h? have you been smokin the funny stuff? why the h**l would you burn your fingers and then think if i burnt my fingers and touched my earlobe maybe they would burn as well! boy, this is the real world not makebelieve!
