When you put peroxide on something...??

Question: and it bubbles white does that mean its infected?
somebody told me that a long time ago...but EVERYTHING i put peroxide on bubbles up white so i dont see how that can be true. Even if i just get a papercut and immediately put peroxide on it, it bubbles...
anybody know the truth??
Answers: The bubbling action in Hydrogen Peroxide is from the release of the extra Oxygen, reducing the Peroxide (H2O2) to simple water (H2O).
Aside from removing actual dirt from a wound that can be pulled loose from the bubbling action, Hydrogen Peroxide has virtually no cleansing ability. It is NOT anti-microbial and therefore does not reduce any chance of infection.
You're better off cleaning a wound with soap and water.
A cut cannot be infected seconds after it's made.
The very best thing to clean wounds with is ordinary soap and water btw.
The bubbling is the peroxide changing form to water after releasing an extra Hydrogen ion (which is, as I understand, what interferes with what makes bacteria grow and reproduce). It is H2O2 and results in water H2O after bubbling stops.
I don't think it means that it's infected but that it's attacking and killing the germs that could cause an infection.
I really don't think it means it is infected i think it means that it is dirty and it is just cleaning it that's it.
those are oxygen bubbles...i heard that too about it being infected..old wise tell told by someone that was so wise after all.....
You should NEVER put hydrogen peroxide on any living thing full strength. It will destroy the tissue. Always mix it at least half and half with water. The bubbling has nothing to do with if it is infected or not, it is because of it's chemical composition.
When peroxide bubbles, that means it's working. If you put peroxide on a wound and it does not bubble, the peroxide is no longer effective.

The beauty of peroxide is that it doesn't hurt when you pour it on a wound. It's just cold.

If it's not bubbling anymore, check the expiration date and buy some more.
