I woke up today and caanot stop crying. I have a sense of doom all the time. Whats wrong with me??
Question: I am 48 and happily married, the only thing wrong in my life is I hate my job so much (nursing) but I can't afford to leave
Answers: hormones.
Take the day off, and go sit under a tree and think of the birds, and the wind, and don't drink coffee, orange juice, nor eat candy. You have probably overdosed on these the night before, and need to bring your sugar and cafeine levels down.
Consider options for a simpler career, then start looking for new employment. Do some basic training, and when you find a new employer, quit the nursing, and you will have a seamless transfer.
It sounds like depression. Can you try and find another job first, then leave. It sounds like it's really getting you down. Are you due a holiday soon, to give you break.
If you tallk to your HR department they may even be able to find you a different posting that you may enjoy more.
I hope you feel better soon.
Get out and smell the roses. Listen to the birds and be glad to be alive and well not as some of the folk you care for. Maybe a course of yoga can help cheer you up. Why not leave what you are nursing and go for working privately as a doctor's assistant, still medical but maybe not so much trauma.
Seek counselling.
Or if you work for a hospital or care center, see if there isn't another career option, like front desk. That way you won't have to quit just, do a different thing.
hey helen...its ok to cry...your suffering from depression..and its ok to feel..dont fight the feeling...i wished i could help out ..sometimes tis good just to get it out..tell someone like you have..a stranger..just be heard..your not alone helen..i felt this way a many times..and recovering from ocd....and menopause could be a factor here aswell..cry it all out..crying releases tension..and tell your husband because you need him more than ever right now..be brave helen..you can do it..
your a nurse-which is a risk factor for hcv transmission which can causes depression -(if you have it )since it passes the blood brain barrier. i'd get an hcv test. do not rely on alt and ast levels in a liver panel because they can be well within the normal limits, yet you can still be active chronic.
being a nurse you should be aware that many diseases can cause depression and other mental illness. i'd try to rule them out, but begin with the hcv test.
i know it's a long shot (no pun intended) but it's worth looking into. i've been there-many years too. diangoses in 2001, treatment and no longer am depressed (had depression since the age of 13) hcv i had for 26 years.
good luck! ((HUGS))
try evening primrose oil
not surprised your depressed in nursing, one of the most stressful occupations going
it might sound trite, but a good brisk walk would blow away the cobwebs and should kick in a few feelgood endorphins as well
Babe, you are suffering with STRESS RELATED DEPRESSION, I have been there, bought the t-shirt, know the symptoms. Get some help from your GP, and get some time off to recuperate, during which, look around for an alternative, either career or placement, you cannot continue on this route, trust me. Its hard but needs to be done - good luck x
Watch the sunset more often and it's all the death you see at the hospital.
