Anxiety in general is from an unconscious or conscious. fear of something. If your doctor said you are fine it is because you didn't tell him enough to make a diagnosis or you didn't tell him how bad and how long it had effected you. There are different types of anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder (G.A.D.), Social Anxiety Disorder (S.A.D.) etc. There are medications for anxiety as well as therapy by a psychologist or psychiatrist.
The latter amounts to finding out what is causing your fear and learning to put it into perspective and/or facing it. You can do this to a certain extent on your own but it helps to have another to share the burden.
