What are some mental illnesses assosiated with pathologicol liers??

Question: my mom is a pathological lier. but ive wondered for years if thers not somthing else going on with her. i wont go into detail now but thers been signs for years that somthing is very wrong.
Answers: I was a pathological liar for many years. In some respects I probably still am. For instance, I lied to myself about my symptoms of depression. I lied to my family and friends about my feelings of suicide. Finally it almost devoured me. My story can be found on Yahoo search under The Last Temptation of George Petrie . While this may not seem like the same thing that your mother is experiencing, many pathological liars do this because of problems with self-esteem. This is not something that she can overcome herself. She would need professional therapy to get to the root of this problem. The real difficulty is that she would probably lie to a therapist, invalidating any real therapy. You can't force her to seek help but you can make her aware of your feelings and see if she would be willing to talk to a professional.............best wishes

Unfortunately, there are many disorders that are associated with pathological liars. Most of them, can't remember their lies, so they make things up as they along. If ,confronted, they are able to come up with a reason/excuse as to why they lied. In addition to being pathological liars, they can be quite manipulative and convincing. It is very common for such people, to have more than just one disorder. To make an accurate diagnosis, your Mom would need to agree to see a Therapist . Has she suffered alot of psychological stress?? Any chance that you could talk to her?? IE: Mom, I'm worried about you, I Love You, and, I think it may be a good idea for you to be seen by a Professional. I'll go with you ! I hope that this helps and Good Luck !!
