Will wearing contact lens harm our eyes in the future??

Question: I wanted to buy non-perscription color contacts, but my mom said that it will result in severe after effects when I'm older. And because of that, I'm not allowed to buy contact lens. So, I'm just wondering whether what my mom said, is true or an excuse for me to not buy contacts. ^^
Answers: It's an excuse. When properly cared for, cleaned, etc, contacts are safe.
ummm contacts dont hurt if you follow the instructions and take them our at night and stuff.
says on the site below that it will only if you already have an eye injury, well that it could
Your mom's excuse is sooo not true. I wear non-prescription lenses that HELP in getting rid of my astigmatism. Contact lenses, though, are really expensive, so there really is no use in buying them if you don't have either astigmatism or if you don't need prescription lenses.
no. they are find.
Regardless of what the industry propaganda says re: Contact Lens, It is the MOST unnatural and DANGEROUS thing to place foreign objects on the surface of ones cornea!

Of course the Optic industry will; NEVER ever even whisper a hint of this let alone the introduction of all sorts of bacteria from the filthiest part of your body .. the hands and fingers introducing the same INTO your eye!!

Just like in the 50's there were cigarette commercials where Dr's were paid to endorse smoking ... money is the motivation and vanity that drives the Contact lens industry.

I'll never wear them!

Vanity, vanity, all is vanity

As long as you get the contacts that allow the greatest airflow so oxygen can get to the cornea, and as long as you clean your contacts properly, as well as, change them as you are supposed to, I don't believe that contacts will be a severe problem for our eyesight. I've worn them for 20 years now, and my eyes have not gotten worse and I have not had a single infection or overwear blister.

My cousin has worn contacts since they came into being, b/c her eyes were so bad that her eyeglasses looked like jar bottoms. Her eyes are fine.

In any case, I think that it has a great deal to do with the natural health of your eyes, as well as how well you care for your contacts and eyes when you wear them and when you do not.

The most important thing is to not stress your eyes by wearing them too long. You have to work up to wearing contacts, so don't rush that... also, you have to clean them on a regular basis - every day. Try not to wear them longer than 8-10 hours at a time, and wear your glasses the rest of the time.

That's just my experience with contact lenses. Hope it helps.
