Flickering squiggly lines in vision, What could it be??

Question: I know it's not floaters I do know what those look like. This is like a squiggly, pulsing line, usualy towards the outer area of my vision. Kinda reminds me of what a bolt of lightening would look like if it just sat there and pulsed. It last anywhere from a min. to 10 or more min. I do work at a computer for long continuios hours (9 or more), I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not.
Answers: It is possible you are having an ocular migraine. This is a brain vascular spasm that causes a disturbance in your vision but luckily does not lead to a headache like a classic migraine does. Or you could be experiencing some type of physical stimulation of the retina that is causing the brain to enterpret it as light. This may occur if you have a posterior vitreous detachment (detachment of the gel in the back of the eye -- not dangerous but causes these symptoms) or a retinal detachment (detachment of the retina in the back of the eye -- dangerous and can lead to blindness). As you may see from my answer there is no way to know for sure without having a thorough eye health examination. So, call your eye doctor and let him take a look. Hope this helped.
