Bad headaches??

Question: what can i do for bad headaches? i've been told by dr.'s that it could be tension headaches, migraines, and cluster headaches. i have an app. to see a neurologist on wed. until then what should i do?
Answers: Such headaches are difficult to deal with I know. Do not put ice on your head. If it is a tension headache the cold will only make it worse. Until you go see your neurologist, the best thing to do is relax as much as possible. Tylenol, Motrin, and Excedrin may help relieve it a little, but make sure you do not take more than is recommened, this can also aggrevate the headache more. If possible try to sleep durring the worst part. If it is migraines ask your doctor about relpax, it has worked great for me. Hope all works out well.
Ice for headaches is best. Dont use heat. Lie in a dark room, no telly or music. peace and quiet is what you need and a couple of sick days until your appointment.
Also try excedrin tension headaches. These have caffeine in them so if you drink coffee try to cut back a little. It's something about the caffeine that helps with the blood flow. I've just found that these work better than just motrin or tylenol!! Hope you feel better
