Or you can google menstruation and get a variety of sites that can answer all your questions. Welcome to womenhood!!
During the time period before each menstrual cycle, a lining is being built up on your uterus wall, which is important for one day when you get pregnant. During your period, you shed that lining. The substance that comes out looking like bloody mucus, would be the sheding of the lining, it is called clots. It's very normal. Some women experience cramping during that time. Taking something like Midol would help with that. I hope this helps! Also, don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions, it's highly unlikely you will ask a question they haven't already heard.
Hi Young Lady!
You don't say how old you are (which is fine). I found a great website for you. www.kidshealth.org. Hopefully that'll answer your questions!
You take care and welcome to womenhood!
the lining of your uterus thickens in readiness for pregnancy, when pregnancy doesnt occur, hormone levels drop, and the lining is shed, this is your period
